Poker Reports
In this section, we strive to provide you with all the latest information from the poker industry. To be a good poker player, it’s important to be knowledgeable and stay up-to-date about what’s going on regards poker regulations, playing tips, tournament news and poker site developments. Sometimes a little piece of information can go a long way.
For example, staying abreast of poker network information will keep you informed as to possible changes in your current poker site. Networks play a very big role in shaping the outlook of a poker site. Some networks will not allow their members to register players from certain countries or have particular software stipulations and so forth. If your site is rumored to be moving network, this is likely to indicate they are looking to change their market or signify they have become too big for their current platform. Whatever the reason, it is likely that as an existing customer you will be required to re-install software and possibly adapt to a different clientèle. This can be for better or worse, but the smart player is the one who’s aware of the changes occurring under their own roof. Tracking network migrations can also help you when signing up to or switching to different poker rooms. If there is a poker network that is attracting more poker sites than others it is likely to be better supported, meaning the poker rooms under that network will enjoy better software and features for an altogether better poker experience. Network Transfer News
Sportsbookpoker.com and playersonly.com recently announced that they’re changing networks and transferring to the Merge Poker network. They were initially at the major Cake Poker network but decided to move for the sake of their players. A statement released by the poker sites read in part, “Our goal is to provide our players with the best poker experience possible, which is why we decided to make this move. We’re confident that our players will enjoy the groundbreaking features, generous loyalty rewards program, and improved overall playability that Merge’s poker software provides.” Sportsbook.com has been under the Cake Poker Network since 2006 whereas playersonly.com just recently opened its doors to members from across the globe.
Many sites are moving from the Micro gaming network, which does not accept US citizens, in order to gain from the lucrative American poker playing market which has experienced much turbulence recently as a result of the UIGEA Bill. The Cake Poker network and the Merge network are both known for accepting US citizens and thus this was not an issue for sportbook.com and pokersonly.com while deciding on transferring.
Cake Poker has not absolutely lost, though the exit of these two major poker sites has dealt a big blow to it. The famous professional poker player Phil Laak started his own poker site and it’s currently registered as part of the Cake Poker network. Some Cake Poker network rooms that remain onboard include Doyle’s Room, Onlypoker, Rags2Riches Poker, Amsterdam’s Poker, Dimeline, Burro Poker, 7Win Poker, Redback Poker, and Safari Poker. The Cake Poker network tagged the move by the two websites as unfortunate because they had enjoyed a good working relationship together but quickly went on to focus on better things to come, such as the new software they are planning on bringing out. This software will have much better features and will even have a specials feature allowing players to regularly change their name in a bid to avoid the tracking done by some players using Poker trackers such as Holdem manager and Pokertracker.
