Knock a player out. A reward. Yet you have no idea what that reward is worth to you.

It may be small. It could be One of the largest prizes available.

That is why Players love mystery bounty tournaments on poker apps. While you are trying to stay alive in the tournament (the elimination process), another storyline is happening alongside the elimination process. The hidden rewards that other Players will get for knocking you out.

Both PokerBros & ClubGG document their support for the format. However, although both documented formats provide similar experiences, they also have significant differences. Those differences can be found by slowing down and reading each application’s rules.

Checked on November 1, 2026. This article provides an explanation of documented features of Mystery Bounty tournaments on poker apps, not whether any actual tournament(s) has been scheduled today.

How do Mystery Bounty tournaments on poker apps work?

A bounty is the amount of money awarded to a player who successfully eliminated another player from the tournament. In a Mystery Bounty tournament, unlike in regular bounty tournaments, you do not know how much the reward will be before the knockout.

Pokerbros describes a two phase tournament. first comes standard play, where you may eliminate opponents; however, those early eliminations do not earn bounties.

Then, after all eligible Players complete registration, comes the mystery phase. At this time, remaining Players are randomly assigned hidden bounties and Players begin earning rewards for successful eliminations.

Before moving forward with your search for mystery bounty tournaments on poker apps, there is something important to check immediately. When does the reward system activate?

Reward systems for mystery Bounty tournaments on poker apps do not necessarily activate after every single hand played. In addition to providing details about which applications offer the feature, Pokerbros provides additional information about when the rewards will actually start activating. According to Pokerbros, the organizer of the event determines the level at which the mystery phase begins and must wait until late registration ends prior to starting the mystery phase.

Both Pokerbros and ClubGG document that they include the feature as part of their official documentation.

Pokerbrosclub managers can create and choose when to activate the mystery phase of a tournament (once late registration closes).
ClubGG“mystery” is listed as a “club settings option” within its guide and states that it becomes active once the tournament reaches paid places.

The above confirms what the software supports. It does not mean you can open up any club and find a ready-to-join event listed under “tournaments.”

To participate in a Mystery Bounty tournament on a poker app, you must join an event that was specifically created by the club manager using the correct setting options. Therefore, instead of assuming you can simply open up a lobby and see if there is a new event running, check the specific Entry and conditions of the event.

Announcing a new feature does not constitute scheduling a specific event or creating a new event listing.

In addition to announcing its feature on Nov. 23, 2022, Pokerbros published a formal explanation that included additional information that may surprise some Players. Specifically, during the mystery phase of a tournament, Players are able to view the possible reward levels (including the maximum) for their successful eliminations. However, Players do not learn the total amount of the rewards earned until after completing the tournament.

Therefore, although you know you have been rewarded for your successful eliminations, you do not know the total amount of the reward.

This aspect of the experience of participating in mystery bounty tournaments on poker apps would likely differ significantly from many types of experiences you may have had previously.

While reading the explanation above from Pokerbros , i was reminded of an important point regarding mystery bounty tournaments on poker apps: when reading about a new experience, do not make assumptions based on prior experiences. Do not assume that every knockout immediately results in a reward being distributed.

Another interesting note about this explanation is that Pokerbros also states that when multiple Players successfully eliminate an opponent in the same hand, the bounty is split among them equally.

As with most applications that provide explanations of their features, i would caution against making assumptions based solely on the original date of publication. While the explanation provided above was dated 2022, i recommend verifying that the same processes apply today by reviewing the current rules for your selected tournament event prior to beginning participation.

Additional comments regarding ClubGG:

According to ClubGG, there are three bounty options that club managers can select when hosting tournaments through their platform: regular bounty, progressive bounty and Mystery Bounty.

The ClubGG guide states that “mystery” bounty activates when the tournament reaches itm (in the money). As described earlier in this article, “itm” refers to the point in a tournament at which Players have completed registration and are eligible to receive paid finishing positions.

However, i also noted an additional sentence while researching this section. ClubGG also states that “bounties are credited directly to the player’s chip stack.” Unfortunately, i found insufficient information in their documentation to provide confidence in describing the entire process of receiving rewards using this language alone. Specifically, the guide does not clearly indicate that the term “chip stack” refers to a unique type of currency separate from other forms of compensation. As a result, i strongly advise asking clarifying questions to better understand how the reward process operates for your selected tournament event.

Based upon my research, it appears that both Pokerbros and ClubGG provide clubs with significant flexibility in designing and implementing their own formats for conducting Mystery Bounty tournaments. While neither application provides a single universal standard for how these events operate, they both allow clubs to design their own versions using flexible parameter settings such as selecting when to activate rewards, setting Entry fees, permitting re-Entry and determining how to award bounties when multiple Players eliminate an opponent in the same hand. I therefore encourage readers to review and carefully evaluate all aspects of the event description prior to committing resources.

Example using figures published by PokerBros to explain its format

Pokerbros uses the following example figures to illustrate how its format operates:

DetailPublished example
Entry$1,000 with no fee
Entrants150
Amount allocated to bounties50% of Entry pool ($750)
Total bounty pool$75,000
Number of Players entering into the mystery phase60
Largest possible bounty awarded to eliminator$26,250

The examples presented above are example units only. They should not be considered cash awards or current tournament offers.

These example units were used to illustrate the range of reward sizes that are available in the typical Mystery bounty tournaments on poker apps.

While these example units are representative of a typical range of values associated with successful eliminations in a Mystery Bounty tournament on a poker app; each event will use different parameters such as allocation rates and prize structures.

Mystery bounty is different than progressive bounty

Although the names are easy to mix-up – especially when a lobby displays short labels; ClubGG describes a regular bounty as being awarded in full to the winning player of a hand.

On the other hand; ClubGG describes its progressive bounty format as having half of the bounty awarded to the winner of a hand for each elimination made by them in that hand – with the other half added to their own bounty.

Therefore; based upon the definitions alone; while both formats allow Players to win bounties for eliminating opponents; they are very different processes and Players would benefit significantly by reading more than just the name displayed in a tournament listing.

Whether you see numbers on a screen representing units of account or dollars/cents denoting real-money wagers on a casino floor/online gaming platform; the same basic principle applies – never assume that numbers on a screen automatically represent cash prizes without checking to verify that fact first!

Pokerbros documents itself as social gaming platform that does not engage in real-money services. Additionally; according to its promotion guidelines; Pokerbros cannot advertise its platform as a real-money application either.

ClubGG states that it is a free-to-play social poker platform and does not facilitate real-wagering activities online.

If you plan to compare multiple mystery bounty tournaments on poker apps; be certain to determine what type of units are displayed as potential rewards and whether those units represent chip points or cash payouts.

Additionally; be sure to keep separate your understanding of terms provided directly through your selected poker app(s); and terms promoted by independent clubs offering events via your selected platforms.

What to look for before committing resources

You do not need to create an exhaustive checklist. Ask yourself these questions to help ensure your participation experience is smooth and uncomplicated:

  • When does the mystery phase begin?
  • When can i view my total collected bounty rewards?
  • What type of unit(s) represent my Entry and/or prize pools?
  • How is my Entry divided between fees for participating in the event and bounty prizes awarded upon completion?
  • Am i allowed to re-enter the event?
  • How are bounty awards determined amongst Players who share a knockout?
  • Where can i review my rewards after completing my last hand?

Reading beyond headlines is essential

Pokerbros allows organizers of events to select their desired beginning level for the mystery phase subject to stated limits established by the application developer. Similarly; ClubGG provides organizers with flexibility over design elements including fees for Entry and whether or not participants are permitted to re-enter events once they register and pay Entry fees.
