We’re seeing a great increase in 6-Card Omaha being offered by many different poker websites. However, finding a quality 6-Card Omaha game isn’t quite as easy.
Even though a lot of poker websites may have PLO6 in their software, if there’s only one table open at the wrong time — or worse yet, the table is filled with recreational players — then it doesn’t matter that they have PLO6 in their software.
When we go hunting for 6-Card Omaha online, we pay far more attention to the quality of players at each table, stakes (how high), and how many tables are actively running that fit our desired criteria.
As such, some of the greatest Best PLO6 games aren’t located at the biggest poker networks. A ton of 6-Card Omaha has migrated over to private clubs on ClubGG, PokerBros, PPPoker, and X-Poker. We’ve also listed out a few website-based options, namely KingsClubPKR, Phenom Poker, and RAIZE.
The key is to know what you’re searching for.
Why the Best PLO6 Games Aren’t Located at the Largest Poker Networks
Normally speaking, most serious online poker players start off by visiting the largest poker networks. That’s totally logical. These larger networks have massive advertising budgets, provide generous welcome bonuses, have better-than-average software, and thousands of registered players.
However, since every serious online poker player follows this path, it’s relatively simple for anyone playing a significant amount of volume to spot other grinders.
A large network with very low rake instantly lures in grinders who prioritize EV. The more volume someone plays, the more valuable rake will become.
For example, a volume grinder who plays multiple tables and hundreds of thousands of hands per week will certainly notice an extra .01% rake. As such, low rake provides a major competitive advantage. However, low rake will also attract exactly those types of players you wouldn’t want to sit down with.
Crushers arrive.
And now you’ll likely be paying less rake while seated at a table with five daily grinders.
While there is absolutely nothing wrong with competing against top-level competition — in fact, it could help develop your skills and improve your ego — most players choose to compete against the best possible opponents strictly for financial gain. It rarely seems to be the most intelligent decision for grinders.
This is particularly true in 6-Card Omaha. Because of the increased potential for draws, redraws, and close equity situations created by six additional cards, minor mistakes made while playing 6-Card Omaha can turn out extremely costly.
Therefore, when searching for the Best PLO6 games, table quality is nearly as important as rake.
How Does 6-Card Omaha Online Work on Private Poker Apps?
ClubGG, PokerBros, PPPoker, and X-Poker function in a manner distinctively different than the average poker site.
Rather than creating an account and entering into a single massive player pool, you sign up to specific private clubs. And often times those clubs are linked through unions, allowing separate clubs to run shared tables.
In this respect, two individuals can play 6-Card Omaha online on PokerBros without ever being able to share a single hand together.
Therefore, when asking if PokerBros or ClubGG has a solid PLO6 crowd, you’ve only asked half the right questions:
- Which club?
- Which union?
- What time?
- What stakes?
Clubs can literally be dead quiet afternoons with five or ten PLO6 tables running in the evenings.
Private poker traffic does tend to flow fairly rapidly. Therefore, using outdated screenshots alone does not suffice.
ClubGG for 6-Card Omaha Online
ClubGG is one of the places we keep a keen eye on whenever anybody asks us about seriously private PLO6 action.
With many different clubs and unions throughout ClubGG, depending on which room you choose to play at, you can expect to find a variety of Omaha formats, including:
- PLO4
- PLO5
- PLO6
- Double board games
- Hi-lo
- Bomb pots
Additionally, some clubs are going to feature much larger stakes than what you typically experience at smaller public poker rooms.
Obviously, the most obvious benefit is flexibility.
For instance, perhaps you’ll discover a larger union featuring plenty of smaller/mid-stakes PLO6 tables and another smaller room offering substantially larger stakes.
Just remember: joining any random ClubGG club because somebody informed you that ClubGG offers the Best PLO6 games is simply ridiculous.
For a 6-Card Omaha player, selecting the correct union can make ClubGG look incredible or, alternatively, produce identical results using identical software.
PokerBros Features PLO6 and Other Unusual Formats Including Double Board and Mixed Omaha Games
PokerBros has provided strong support for unique Omaha formats for years now.
PLO6 will frequently appear directly next to:
- PLO4
- PLO5
- Double board games
- Hi-lo games
- Big O games
- Bomb pot games
Therefore, PokerBros offers advantages when you prefer not to grind the exact same format on each visit.
UK Union / Poker Lounge
One of the Omaha-specific rooms we track during European hours is UK Union/Poker Lounge.
Their offerings include PLO4, PLO5, and PLO6, along with double board games.
Oasis Union
Oasis Union is significantly smaller and USA-based.
During peak PST and EST hours, they generally have around 5–7 active tables running.
Although they do not specialize in any particular niche area of formats, their selection is quite surprising given the size of the room:
- NLH
- PLO4
- PLO5
- PLO6
- Double board games
- Hi-lo games
- Various mixed formats
It is primarily because of its wide array of game formats that Oasis is worth monitoring when seeking PLO6, Hi-Lo, mixed formats, as well as bomb pots.
This illustrates precisely why the “Best” PLO6 games do not always refer to the club with the highest number of active tables.
If a smaller club has 2 out of their 5 tables running a format you specifically seek, that is potentially far more advantageous than a monster lobby loaded with formats you dislike.
PPPoker: Far Bigger Than Just a PLO5 App
While PPPoker was historically a PLO5 application, they now offer significantly more than that today.
Several unions are currently mixing PLO5 and PLO6 with formats such as Double Board and Bomb Pots.
And while several pools are more Omaha-heavy than others, some unions are particularly heavy in Omaha due to Brazil/Latin America-based crowds, whereas other clubs generate heavier activity during North American or Asian hours.
The biggest consideration regarding PPPoker, timing-wise, is critical.
If you examine one room at entirely the wrong hour, you can easily assume there is no traffic whatsoever. If you re-check six hours later, the entire lobby could be drastically different.
Thusly, PPPoker is fascinating for 6-Card Omaha online. However, unless you understand which regional pool aligns perfectly with your scheduling needs, it will be irrelevant.
Someone playing in Europe in the evenings is likely to find vastly different Best PLO6 games than someone playing EST evenings in the U.S.
X-Poker for 6-Card Omaha
Smaller in terms of total players, X-Poker’s 6-Card Omaha offerings can still interest some 6-Card Omaha players.
Most European and South American clubs feature PLO4, PLO5, and PLO6 as main features within their overall selection. Some clubs may even include less typical options, such as PLO6 Bomb Pots and/or ante-only games featuring mandatory straddling.
Therefore, X-Poker is potentially interesting to someone interested in playing six-card Omaha and is looking for something different than the usual public lobbies.
You will most likely not find the biggest number of players playing PLO6 on any given night.
However, you will likely find the table(s) you were looking for.
There is a difference.
KingsClubPKR and Phenom Poker
All six-card Omaha action isn’t available through mobile club applications.
KingsClubPKR
KingsClubPKR is an older private poker network with an emphasis on Omaha, larger-than-average private games, and hybrid formats.
Because it does not necessarily require the largest number of active players to be appealing to customers looking for their desired games. Generally, customers who know exactly which game they are looking for tend to prioritize whether the table continues to operate.
Phenom Poker
Phenom Poker is another smaller option with a uniquely diverse array of game types available.
In addition to Holdem and Omaha, Phenom Poker offers:
- Stud
- Razz
- Badugi
- Draw
- HORSE
- 8-GAME
- Dramaha
- Other hybrid formats
As long as you’re seeking the best PLO6 games due to your boredom with traditional Holdem after years of playing, you’ll certainly want to look into these smaller poker platforms.
Their user base is comprised of a different demographic than those found in large-scale commercial networks.
RAIZE: Higher-Stakes Live Dealer PLO6
Unlike anything listed above, RAIZE operates high-stakes PLO6 with a physical live dealer.
While the higher-stake levels typically start around $5/$10, the unique aspect of RAIZE isn’t necessarily the stake level itself.
It’s the lack of a normal RNG system.
A real dealer shuffles and deals real cards physically while you play remotely via computer.
Therefore, you are playing 6-Card Omaha online using live-dealt physical cards.
RAIZE removes this concern entirely for those players who dislike RNG-based systems. You can watch the dealer and watch them shuffle the cards.
Obviously, I wouldn’t suggest RAIZE for new players learning how to play low-limit PLO6 with limited bankrolls. RAIZE seems more suited towards skilled players interested in finding higher-stakes games.
When discussing unusual “Best” PLO6 games, however, I believe it warrants inclusion simply because there is truly nothing else similar to RAIZE.
How to Find the Best PLO6 Games
I’ve never selected solely based upon a name.
First, I determine how many tables are running.
Second, I consider:
- Stakes
- Peak hours
- Rake structure
- Player population
- Stability of the site
Thirdly, I evaluate the quality of the tables themselves.
For example, let’s say two different poker networks each have slightly different rake structures.
One network has extremely low rake; however, nearly all seats are occupied by experienced PLO6 players.
On the flip side, another room has slightly higher rake; however, most players consistently overplay terrible flushes, second-nut draws, or awful sets.
In a very large sample size, the second game could potentially pay out significantly more money than the first.
This is basic table selection, yet people somehow seem to forget this when reviewing poker sites.
Additionally, just like table selection, traffic can vary greatly.
For instance, twenty PLO6 tables do not matter if they are operating when you are sleeping. However, four strong tables that operate each evening during your designated playtime period can provide more value.
Since you are essentially choosing both software and the specific pool of players when selecting a private version of 6-Card Omaha online, this is why I find ClubGG, PokerBros, PPPoker, and X-Poker so intriguing.
KingsClubPKR and Phenom Poker present additional options for players that enjoy non-standard games, while RAIZE provides an alternative experience using real cards and a live dealer.
The “best” PLO6 games can change on a monthly basis.
Players are constantly migrating between clubs. Player unions grow stronger or weaker. New games appear and old ones disappear.
