Pokio
Pokio Review
Pokio — is a state-of-the-art licensed real money social poker app launched in 2017 and operated by Qufan Internet Technology Ltd, headquartered in Malta. Manuel Lopes, its CEO, has vast experience working in the gambling industry in major companies like bwin or PokerLoco.
The app holds a Type 3 B2C active gaming service license from the Malta Gaming Authority, approved to offer Peer-to-peer Poker games.
The difference between Pokio and apps like Upoker, for example , is the fact, that this is a fully licenced real money poker app. Below we will discuss the pros and cons of Pokio taking this approach to online poker in 2022.
What makes Pokio different from other poker apps?
Let’s compare Pokio to Upoker. Outwardly they look pretty much the same:
- A mobile poker app with clubs, cash games, MTTs, etc.
- Available via iOS and official Android stores.
- Modern design with cool graphics and portrait orientation.
- Games take place in private clubs. Pokio clubs join and for circles, just like Upoker clubs join and create unions.
The first difference between purely club-based poker apps, with agent structure (Upoker) and Pokio, is the fact that on Upoker, your agent handles deposits and cashouts. You have to completely trust him, as he is not related to the app itself.
To play in Pokio Clubs, all you need is to join them and app takes it from there. You pass verification proccess, provide personal documents and Pokio provides you with automatic cashier in return. This removes the middleman and appears to be safer way of handling payments, however it comes with a cost.
The price of using fully licensed real money poker apps is that there are many restricted countries due to gambling regulation; In other words – the traffick is less
Overall, Pokio is a club-based licensed poker room designed for gadgets. There are no agents, and all financial transactions are processed via the in-app cashier. Although the games are safer, the traffic is low compared to any other app like PPPoker.
Pokio rakeback
In terms of rakeback and promotions, Pokio is similar to club-based poker apps like Mr.Poker. Any bonuses and promotions are given to you by agents. Pokio Clubs work with affiliates and poker agents, while the player themselves communicate with agents.
The players who use The Poker Agent services will be glad to know, that we pay hefty rakeback , once a month. Yes, in all other club-based poker apps, this is a weekly arrangement, but here, rakeback is paid monthly. This may sound like a long time, but receiving all of the bonus at once, is a huge boost to your bankroll.
On the other hand, if you are in need of quick cashout, you may withdraw your bonus immediately once received.
Pokio rake structure
The app charges a standard 5% rake with different caps per stake. Pokio’s rake can be called fair and standard. The following structure applies to all games:
Stakes | 2 Player Cap | 3-4 Player Cap | 5+ Player Cap |
NL20€ | €0,50 | €0,75 | €1,25 |
NL50€ | €0,80 | €1,50 | €3 |
NL100€ | €1,50 | €1,50 | €3 |
NL200€ | €1,50 | €3 | €3 |
NL500€ | €1,50 | €3 | €3 |
NL1,000€ | €1,75 | €3,50 | €3,50 |
NL2,000€ | €1,75 | €3,50 | €3,50 |
Games and Traffick on Pokio
Remember when we said , that there are downsides of being a fully licensed app ? Well, there are and we will reveal some of them below.
Let’s start with the fact, that Pokio is on the market for 4 years now and traffick is not something to brag about. Why isn’t booming yet, if it is fully legal real money poker app?
The answer is very simple, many countries are banned from playing on the app. Most of them are, of course, big providers of weak players. This is why Pokio is NOT providing the softest possible games, like PPPoker , for example .
Nevertheless, most Pokio Clubs are not filled with regular players. Many recreational and even completely amateur players join the tables, on daily basis.
The low traffick is the main reason, why Pokio is not hosting huge variety of game types. Mostly here you will find the usual suspects – NLH and PLO. PLO5 is getting quite popular lately, as well. Nothing out of the ordinary.
There is a decent Tournament Schedule with the occasional Freerolls here and there.
Pokio App Software
The app is similar to all real money poker apps, and it’s divided into five tabs:
- Club: games added by the player;
- Stats. built-in statistics;
- Play: available games to join; inside this tab, the poker formats divide into Cash Game, MTT, and SnG;
- Wallet: deposits and withdrawals;
- Me: personal account settings.
The client is designed in green, and the table lobby shows the games in a single line that displays basic information such as the format (PLO5, Hold ’em, Omaha, Drawmaha, OFC), each one with a different color.
At the top right, the filter icon allows showing the games by game type, format, stakes, seats, and hide full tables.
You can buy Diamonds that give access to features like changing your nickname, Rabbit Hunt, or All-In Insurance (protection against bad beats).
HUD
When you click an opponent’s nickname, a HUD will pop up with primary data like hands played, VPIP, PFR, and Win Rate. You can also check your own statistics in the “Stats” tab.
As the poker app is compatible only with mobile devices, regular tracking tools like Holdem Manager 3 or PokerTracker 4 don’t work.
Can you trust Pokio ?

Pros and cons of Pokio
Pokio find itself in the middle of both worlds. On the one hand it is fully licensed poker room with automatic cashier, like Pokerstars, but it lacks the traffick. On the other hand. it is a club-based poker app with agent system, but games are tougher, you can not play from anywhere and have to pass KYC. Seems like it took the worst of both worlds, but in reality is not all that bad. Although you can see the rating, right at the top of this reviiew, here is the summary ;
- Good
+ Fully Licensed Poker App
+ Good Amount of Recreational Players
+ Variety of Payment Methods
- Bad
– Country Restrictions
– KYC Check
– Softer Club-Based Apps alternatives
– No PC Support
